Cross-functional
CONTENT STRATEGY

THE CHALLENGE

When the pandemic forced the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) to close its doors, the organization faced a critical challenge: how to stay connected with its audience without in-person visits. Maintaining engagement with members, donors, and the public required a bold shift in strategy. The goal was clear: build a digital bridge strong enough to support community, connection, and growth.

WHAT WE DID

I led the creation of a comprehensive, integrated content strategy that reimagined how the AGO connected with its audience online. We expanded digital storytelling, optimized email engagement, and launched a dynamic virtual events program. Each initiative was designed to deepen relationships and broaden reach.

The impact was immediate and measurable.

  • The AGO’s email list grew by 60 percent, significantly expanding its digital footprint.
  • Blog traffic more than doubled, surpassing 330,000 annual views.
  • 321 virtual events attracted nearly 500,000 attendees, with half being new to the AGO.

This digital-first approach maintained engagement while unlocking new opportunities for long-term growth.

MY IMPACT

I led the development of the AGO’s content strategy and worked cross-functionally with leaders across Membership, Public Programs, Learning and Development, Curatorial, and Philanthropy to align goals and unify messaging. My role focused on strategic oversight, cross-functional facilitation, and unlocking organizational momentum at a critical time.

As project lead, I guided the optimization of campaigns and programs that drove significant subscriber growth, and I offered strategic input on virtual programming to ensure it reached as many people as possible while our doors were closed. By fostering collaboration and maintaining a clear strategic vision, I helped the AGO strengthen its digital presence and build lasting connections during a period of disruption.
